Jackie is part of a short but solid group of young portuguese dj’s and event curators who aspire to do something truly genuine and unique by breaking the dogmatic barriers of style, social relations, sexual and gender behavior and fashion standards in the context of club culture. Musically speaking, Jackie’s finest characteristic is her ability to go through a large spectrum of emotions, styles, moods and beats, most times unnoticed, by finding and mixing the tiny connections and relations within music genres ranging from the early Chicago jack sounds, to 80’s european synth waves, transgender hip hop, dark electro sounds, high energy disco, emotional breakbeats, the gem nobody’s expecting and bizarre digital-pop future anthems.
This peculiar approach to contemporary and revivalistic urban movements and its reinterpretation is quite obvious in Thug Unicorn, regular and extravagant events that she hosts in Lisbon and Porto.
